Fuel Injector(s) change?

1995 Olds Aurora , 4.0 litre V8, needs at least some, if not all injectors replaced. Once plenum is removed, the injectors sit right on the top of the engine and are really easy to access (the only thing on this car easy to get to). Is there a trick to changing these things out, or is it a straight forward job that anyone with a little mechanical ability could do? Do they need to be tightened with a specific torque spec?|||1. clean the injectors surrounding .

2.mark the fuel pipe lines otherwise if any change happen it will change the firing order and the engine will not start.

3.unscrew and remove the injectors and don%26#039;t lose the injectors%26#039; seals

4.put suitable piece of cloth in the injectors openings to prevent any thing to fall inside the cylinders.

5.re-clean the area around the injectors

6.repair injectors.

7.remove these piece of cloth, put the seals and tighten the injectors in their place

8. tightening should good but with mechanical sense ie.not too hard otherwise the bolts would be destroyed

9. start your engine and check with your hands for any gas sealing around injectors (if so just tighten again that injector

SO IT IS JUST STRAIGHT FORWARD JOB AND NO NEED FOR A TORQUE SPEC|||The easiest thing to do is get a shop manual buy or library to do it right. Some need you to release the pressure by removing the gas cap and add a jumper or remove a relay and run it dry than remove it . put new O-ring rub some oil to it (on the o-ring)and on the nut/bolt add blue thread lock 7-10 or ? ft. per lbs to play it safe look in the book thats all you need to do is retap a broken thread or stud even crack the intake Right? for being to tight or loose and cause a fire.|||It%26#039;s easy. Just make sure you use new seals, check the flexi fuel lines for condition and evacuate the residual fuel pressure before opening any lines. Use proper high pressure fuel line if you need to replace.

Jules, auto tech and lecturer. Australia.|||jeez... boring question 2 points.

Should i do a oil change first before i use fuel injector cleaner (STP)?

true or false? should i change my oil filter first? before i pour my fuel injector cleaner in my gas tank????

i ride a 2007 toyota tacoma with 20,000 miles

i know it sound dum but its what i heard.

thanks|||In my opinion, if anything, change the oil afterwards. This is probably going to be a discussion between some very anal car owners, more than anything that provides hard evidence, though.

The fuel injector cleaner won%26#039;t dislodge material that will cause the filter to become plugged or overloaded, but heavy detergents in certain injector cleaner could potentially cause additional contaminants to be introduced into the engine oil. On a very high level, contaminants are what make oil turn black over the course of the oil life. They originate from different moving parts, and as by-products of the combustion cycle. (If you have ever owned any equipment with a diesel engine, the engine oil can turn black within an hour, although it is still perfectly capable of lubricating.) Therefore, you might as well introduce any additional contaminants produced by the injector cleaner into old oil, then change it.

My favorite injector cleaner is Techron. I have used it in gas and diesel engines, and fuel injected outboards.|||It doesnt matter, they wont come into contact with each other. Personally I would change the oil first, but its up to you.

Removing the fuel injector on a 2000 softail?

I am changing the tank on my 2000 harley softail and need some details on how to remove the fuel injector from the old tank.|||You would be hard pressed to find a fuel injector in or on the fuel tank. If you mean the fuel line, its a slip collar and works like a air hose connector: slide up the collar, pull the nipple out. The crossover tube, unless it has a custom hose has two one-time use clamps that require cutting off with a set of diagonal side cutters. The wire loom is under the center....|||Just like the doc says the fuel pump stuff in the tank has to be changed too unless the new tank has it all, but if it all has to be changed over it would be smart to make sure the screen and o-rings are up to par %26#039;cause pulling it it all back down again is gonna suck if there%26#039;s any internal integrity problems. There%26#039;s a fuel tank service-pak I think is available (doc??) if it is, get it.

Nice going PB on leaving out the electrical safety info.|||Like Polarbear said, no injectors in or on the tank. It does have the fuel lines you have to remove as per his directions. But you also have the fuel pump assembly INSIDE the tank, the removal process for this is too long to explain here.....you seriously need to buy a FACTORY service manual or have a shop do the job for you. If you do decide to do the job youself, this is a MUST.....DISCONNECT THE BATTERY!!!....when dealing with the fuel pump, it%26#039;s electrical inside a gas tank, you don%26#039;t want any sparks....so be careful.

How often should I change the fuel injectors on my car?

I have an 2003 Impala and the fuel injectors have not been replaced.|||If you install Chevron Fuel Injector Cleaner in your gas tank twice per year you will never be required to change injectors. If you have Texaco gas stations near you the above cleaner is already mixed with their fuel. This cleaner is available at any auto parts store. NAPA, Car Quest, Advance Auto Auto Zone and Wal Mart. NAPA has another product, Sea Foam which does a good job. These two products also clean valves and combustion chambers which is a welcome plus. You will be happy with either of these products. Good Luck.|||Fuel injectors usually last a long time (8+ years). I would only replace them if the engine is not firing smoothely. A bad fuel injector should respond the same as if the spark plug is unplugged.|||never...just clean it unless they have an electric fault|||You should replace them whenever you want to waste about $900.00! List price on those are $146.66 each!

Injectors rarely fail, and also raerly plug up. They are not a routine maintenace item.|||Never, unless there is a fault with them.|||when they go bad when ever that is.|||You should only have to replace them if they are leaking, just use a pro cleaning kit every couple of years, they hook into the fuel rail and the engine runs on it until it dies then remove can.|||the best to ask your mechanic or dealership to have the correct answer

2000 Chevy 4.8 Fuel Injector Porblem?

I have a 2000 Z-71 with a 4.8 how hard is it to change a fuel injector also any web sites that have pics or a detailed instructuions would greatly help thanks|||It is not too difficult at all. Just take the fuel rail off that has the injector you are replacing. Take the retainer off that holds the injector on. The new injector will already have the retainer so it will just snap on.

1995 monte carlo 3.4 fuel injector swap to 4.3 and any other easy mods for more power?

i heard it was possible to change the injectors on a 3.4 dohc to injectors with a 4.3 l and i was wondering if this is posible and if anyone has done it and if so would i have to change the fuel pump out to since they send more preasure i heard the 3.4 dohc originaly had 4.3 ingectors in it but had to much power so they put 3.1 injectors in it|||If it%26#039;s a TBI 4.3L V6 it will not work and if SFI it will not work they both use a different type of fuel injection.|||Uh, no.

Short of running a blower on that engine, you aren%26#039;t doing enough to outflow the stock injectors.

You aren%26#039;t running a 3.4L from an F-body...now THAT was an engine that was choked off!

Fuel injector or computer box 2000 nissan altima?

I have a hard problem that i can%26#039;t figure out. I changed all the fuel stuff from fuel pump to fuel filter. still doesn%26#039;t start. then i checked the fuel pressure and it%26#039;s a 45 psi which is good. sparks are good. but now i stumbled on the injectors not having power so it won%26#039;t spray the gas into the engine. i checked fuse and wiring and everyting is good would that mean it%26#039;s the computer ECU not sending the signal to the injectors to fire? please help|||Take a look at the cam and crank sensor. If you have a problem there, the computer doesn%26#039;t know to pulse the injectors. If anything replace them both.

My blazer won't start unless I put starting fluid in the fuel injector?

I have 2000 blazer and I have to put starting fluid in the fuel injector. I tried putting a new fuel pump, fuel pressure sensor that goes on the fuel pump, fuel filter, map sensor, fuel injector cleaner in the fuel tank.I don%26#039;t know what else to change or try. All the Help I can get is great, Thank You!!|||Listen to hear if your fuel pump is running when you turn the key to the run position. If it is, buy a %26quot;noid%26quot; light to check if the injectors are firing as you crank the motor.

http://www.thepartsbin.com/cartools/diag鈥?/a>

Work your way back or forward accordingly, depending on what you find.

If the pump isn%26#039;t running, check the relay. If it is, and injectors aren%26#039;t firing, check crank and cam sensors. Also, the oil pressure sender can interrupt the fuel flow if it%26#039;s faulty. If both OK, check the fuel pressure regulator.

Or maybe all of the injectors crapped out at once.

LOL Yeah, that happens all the time!|||the fuel pump is controlled by the cpu, it is turned on in two different situations.

1 the key was just turned on, it will come on fro about 5 seconds to pressurize the system to regain any pressure during the total key off period.

2 any time the computer sees a tach signal of 400 rpm or more the cpu will turn on the pump again.

if you have a failing computer or a tach signal failure to the computer it will do what you are talking about. if the car starts and runs after a shot of staring fluid, then there is nothing else that it can be really. the relay for the pump works because the car will run after is starts. that leaves only two things to me a tach signal problem or a computer fault ( the timer itself for that initial pulse)|||try checking the fuel injector itself or the wiring to the injector either one of those may have failed.... if all else fails you may have to take it to a certified mechanic some things are very hard to find even to the very experienced back yard mechanic.. good luck man! |||Timing is off, fuel injectors are clogged (the cleaner won%26#039;t clean them).

Spark plugs are fouled, wires are shot, distributor coil is bad.

Lots of things can be wrong - take it to the mechanic.|||Get the fuel regulator on the fuel rail tested. Make sure there%26#039;s enough fuel pressure.|||The injector(s) could be bad. It happens. Easy to check. It%26#039;s in any good service manual and is basically the same for all cars.

Will changing my spark plugs and fuel injectors increase horsepower in my truck?

I drive a 2007 Chevy Silverado LS V-8 5.3L|||yes then you might have to re calibrate to computer|||nope ! it might run better but you won,t get anymore horsepower.|||No, spark plugs just ignite the fuel.. and injectors inject the fuel,

theirs nothing speedy about either, unless you get stronger injectors.

Which you shouldnt unless you need to.|||on all levels, no i do not think that you will see any performance increase UNLESS the old stuff was just that worn out. the injector pulse width will correct for the injector increase, and the plugs are the last in the line of simple electronics.electrons only want to do as much as they have to (lazy just like the rest of us)

Car idel is real high. Fuel Injector?

I recently changed my fuel injector on my 97 ford Taurus. Now my car feels like I%26#039;m pushing the gas when I%26quot;m not. Even at a stop light it feels like i%26#039;m pushing the gas and the brake at the same time. Could it be air leaking out of the manifold or the injector is giving to much gas or any thing else|||check for a vacume leak or throttle cable is to tight

you cant check timing on that car

and you cant adjust that injector either|||Have the Timing On your Car Fine Tuned|||You better check your work. If air is leaking IN the manifold, this could be the cause.|||adjust the feul injector. it is probably injecting too much gasoline. there has to be some way to adjust it.|||Vacuum Leak|||sounds like a large vacuum leak, probably caused by your over looking a vacuum line that you removed as you removed the air cleaner to get to the injector.or possibly knocking it loose by bumping it as you worked on your motor. look for any loose vacuum lines and re-install them.|||i think its funny that you ask a question

the best mechanic dude gets it rite and others just ad a little to it

yes its a vacume leak you should be able to here the leak and it also could be the cable give him the points and fix your car

How much do you think it would cost to have my fuel injectors changed on a ford focus 2004 se?

I not sure if it%26#039;s the fuel injectors, but I%26#039;m pretty sure, cuz I%26#039;m hearing a noise by the alternator, even tho it%26#039;s not the alternator, because the ford dealership checked it out. They told me it could be my fuel injectors. So I was just wanting to know an estimate on what you think it would cost?|||Check this site: http://repairpal.com/

for estimates in your Zip code.

It asks for mileage, but I don%26#039;t know why that would make any difference in the price.

For what it%26#039;s worth: in my area, the estimates ranged from $513-826.

How do i tell if my fuel injector needs replacement/cleaning?

I was told my car needs work done on the fuel injector. The mechanic said that since it jerks sometimes when i press the gas, the fuel injector is having problems. Is this true?

The car is an 89 ford escort with 45k miles. New spark plugs, recent oil change, and recent trans fluid change. I don%26#039;t think there are any trans problems, as the jerking happens even when it doesnt shift.|||Rough idling; lack of smooth accelaration, poor fuel economy, hard starting, and visible leaks are all signs of fuel injector problems. A 1989 Escort I suspect has 145 k miles (I have a 1989 Mazda 323, vritually the same car with 200 k miles). I have never had a problem with the fuel injectors. Two things to try; add 2 quarts of Methyl alcohol (Methanol) to your gas tank and fill with 87 Octane gas). Second, add fuel injector cleaner to a full tank of gas (available from Napa, GI Joes, Prp Boys, etc). If you still have the jerking problem, it may be a faulty Oxygen Sensor (feels like an ignition miss when driving).|||it could be that your carburater is messed up... or it could be that you are having missfires... but yeah, i would get them replaced and see if that works. Hey, if it doesn%26#039;t work, think of this way, you won%26#039;t have to replace them later....|||yea its probably true. For one its an 89 and you know back then fuel isnt as clean as they are today. Theyre probably clogged. You should get some fuel injector cleaner at Kragen or Pep Boys for like 5 bucks to make sure. It wouldnt hurt

I have a 1999 corolla that will not accelerate over 20 miles per hour could it be the fuel injector?

We tried fuel injector cleaners, but they only work temporarily and changed spark plugs and that only helped a little. The engine light goes on and off at will and autozone could not read any codes. Any ideas?|||check if your exhaust is clogged. take your car to a repair shop, you may spend more money while you replacing parts.

possible mass air flow sensor|||sounds like cat converter is plugged up see under car when running if it is glowing or smells like rotton eggs if not or feel exhaust pressure is weak|||could be the tranny|||take off from the cat- back of exhaust if your speed improved 1 or 2 things you can do 1 replace the cat which wold run about $400 or 2 which might not pass emission test is to gut out the cat , find an exhaust pipe that fits in cat housing and get it welded then put exhaust back together

How do you change fuel injectors and o-rings in a '97 Chevy cavalier with a 2.2 liter engine?

dont take this the wrong way but if you have to ask you should probably take it to a certified mechanic 90%26#039;s GM 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder engines are very poorly design and you may run the risk ofruining something unrelated. I have been there with my cousins 99 Malibu

How do I change the fuel injectors in my 1997 gmc yukon vortec?

i changed the fuel pump last year the car is not turning over it has fire and fuel is getting to the front but i dont know if the injectors are working how do i take them out to clean them?|||Wow, that%26#039;s the longest answer I%26#039;ve ever seen!!!

Before you go off replacing them you should bring them in to have them tested. I would reccomend this because it%26#039;s highly unlikely that the fuel injectors would have anything wrong with them if driven under normal conditions under 200000. There is also a method where you can test the resistance of each injector with a multimeter yourself but I know very little about it except it can be done.|||take it to the dealer for warranty replacement%26gt;

Some customers of 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 model year S/T, M/L, C/K, G, P, W4/NPR trucks and 2003 NPR trucks, that are registered in California, equipped with 4.3L (RPO L35 and VIN Code W, or RPO LF6 and VIN Code X), 5.0L (RPO L30 and VIN Code M) or 5.7L (RPO L31 and VIN Code R) engine, and California emissions (RPO YF5), may experience a %26quot;Service Engine Soon%26quot; light, misfire, rough idle or hard start due to a deposit build-up on the Sequential Central Port Fuel Injector (SCPI) poppet valve(s). The deposit build-up may cause injector poppets to stick closed. Certain fuels have been found to interact with the SCPI system to cause the deposits.

SPECIAL POLICY ADJUSTMENT

This special policy covers the SCPI failure condition described above for a period of ten (10) years or 200,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the date the vehicle was originally placed in service, regardless of ownership.

The repairs will be made at no charge to the owner. This special policy applies ONLY to repairs requiring SCPI system servicing, injector cleaning and/or MFI assembly replacement of the SCPI system. The customer should not be charged for performing a system check when it is determined that the SCPI system is not the cause of a customer complaint (labor operation T5532 is provided to submit claims for such system checks). Any additional necessary diagnosis and repairs that are not related to the SCPI condition are not covered by this special policy. The customer should be informed that any further service that is not covered by new vehicle warranty will not be covered by this policy.

VEHICLES INVOLVED

Involved are certain 1996,1997,1998,1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 S/T, M/L, C/K, G, P, W4/NPR and 2003 NPR model vehicles, registered in California, equipped with 4.3L (RPO L35 - VIN Code W, or RPO LF6 - VIN Code X), 5.0L (RPO L30 - VIN Code M) or 5.7L (RPO L31 - VIN Code R) engine; and California emissions (RPO YF5). PARTS INFORMATION

Parts required to complete this special policy are to be obtained from General Motors Service Parts Operations (GMSPO). Please refer to your %26quot;involved vehicles listing%26quot; prior to ordering parts. Normal orders should be placed on a DRO Daily Replenishment Order. In an emergency, parts should be ordered on a CSO = Customer Special Order.

IMPORTANT :Isuzu Parts Ordering: In order to comply with the 10-digit Isuzu part numbering system, Isuzu dealers must add an %26quot;8%26quot; to the beginning and a %26quot;0%26quot; to the end of the listed 8-digit part numbers when ordering parts through AIPDN.

CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION

Customers will be notified of this special policy on their vehicles by General Motors (see copy of typical customer letter included with this bulletin - actual divisional letter may vary slightly).

SERVICE PROCEDURE

System Check: Use strategy-based diagnoses listed in the front of the Driveability and Emissionssection of the service manual. If the SCPI system is operating properly, inform the customer that the vehicle does not have the condition listed in the owner letter. If poor driveability conditions persist, inform the customer that any further diagnosis and repairs will be at their expense if the vehicle is outside the parameters of the new vehicle warranty.

SCPI Injector Cleaning Procedure: If diagnosis leads to sticking poppet nozzles, use the service procedure from Service Bulletin 00-06-04-003B to clean the SCPI poppet nozzles. Please note that the service bulletin term for SCPI is Central Sequential Fuel Injection (CSFI), but is referring to the same fuel system assembly. If the poppet nozzles have previously been cleaned and the sticking condition has reoccurred, refer to the correction paragraph below.

SCPI Fuel Tank Fill Pipe Assembly for 1997-99 M/L Van and 1999 - some 2000 C/K Truck: with 4.3L, 5.0L, 5.7L engines and built prior to listed VIN/Production dates on Service Bulletin 00-06-04-018: If diagnosis leads to sticking poppet nozzles on these models, use the service procedure from Service Bulletin 00-06-04-018 to replace the fuel tank fill pipe assembly, if this procedure has not been performed previously. Previous service procedure can be verified by checking GMVIS for Labor Operation L1065 on %26quot;M/L%26quot; trucks with replacement part number 15050573; or Labor Operation L1065 on %26quot;C/K%26quot; trucks with replacement part numbers 15747585 or 15747588.

Correction: If, after cleaning the SCPI poppet nozzles, the normal service manual diagnosis still indicates that the SCPI is the cause of the customer complaint, or if the injectors have previously been cleaned and the vehicle has again experienced sticking poppet nozzles, refer to Service Bulletin 00-06-04-003B and replace the SCPI fuel assembly with the MFI fuel assembly. Please note that the service bulletin term for SCPI is Central Sequential Fuel Injection (CSFI), but is referring to the same fuel system assembly.

CLAIM INFORMATION

For vehicles repaired under this special policy, submit a claim with the information indicated.

CUSTOMER REIMBURSEMENT

Customer requests for reimbursement are for any previously paid repairs to, or replacement of, the Sequential Central Port Fuel Injection (SCPI) system. Repairs must have occurred within 10 years of the date the vehicle was originally placed in service, or 200,000 miles, whichever occurs first. The requests are to be submitted within two (2) years of the date on which the repair was paid or within two (2) years of the date of this Special Policy Bulletin, whichever is greater.

When a customer requests reimbursement, they must provide the following:

- Proof of ownership at time of repair.

- Original paid receipt confirming the amount of unreimbursed repair expense(s) (including Service Contract deductibles), a description of the repair, and the person or entity performing the repair.

Customers from the State of California, must submit requests for reimbursement directly to (Divisions) per instructions in the owner letter.

If the work was done by someone other than a GM dealership, the amount of reimbursement will be limited to the amount that the repair would have cost GM to have it completed by a GM dealership.

Why is my 95 pontiac sunfire not staying running after changing o rings in the fuel injectors?

I replaced the o rings in the fuel injectors on my car cause they were leaking. Now the car won%26#039;t stay running. It cranks up and has spark. But just dies on me. I checked the fuses. Fuel pumps works great. I also checked the electrical to. Its fine. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Thanks.|||check fuel pressure as well as injector electrical connections. Are they in correct order?

Is it hard to change the timing on a fuel injector?

i have a 1992 ford f350 7.3 litter diesel and ive had the fuel pump, fuel lines, alternater, batteries, fuel fillter and glow plugs changed and it still wont start but only in the mornings. After its started it will run fine the rest of the day and my buddy told me the fuel injector timing was off and i was wondering if that could be it or not,and if so how hard it is to change it|||I%26#039;m not aware of any way to modify the injector timing - this comes from your computer. While there are some devices that can modify the way your computer responds, the injector pulse width is normally driven by values in a table based on the performance desired and known variables relating to your engine and the vehicle specs.

I didn%26#039;t see pressure regulator mentioned in your lengthy list of repairs? Have you verified the fuel rail pressure? I would place injector timing at the bottom of my list of probable issues. (Unless there%26#039;s a TSB for this.)|||You might want to see if the fuel lines are placed correctly. That can cause your mornings hard starts.

The timing should only be done by your local fuel shop.

Disconnect the negative battery cable. Release fuel pressure then remove air cleaner housing, disconnect the Injector connector, remove the fuel hose and fuel pipe, disconnect the fuel distributor (right and left), remove the Insulator and accumulated connector remove the spacer and now the injector and pressure regulator. To reinstall Use new O-rings to aid installation, apply small amount of clean engine oil to O-rings, verify that injector holder is clean

Install injectors square in distribution pipe, turning back and forth while pushing down fit injector tap into notch in distribution pipe.

Any general instructions will definitely come in handy.

THX...|||you would have to have a heck of injector fault for that to be the problem. Do yourself a favor of spending the cash and goto local parts store and ask if they have a %26quot;noid%26quot; light for the injector on that car. Most places like autozone sell them for around 8 bucks.

Unplug an injector and plug that into the plug. have someone try to start the car and notice if the light flashes. If it doesnt %26quot;and I bet it doesnt%26quot; then its not the injectors.

Also, does it have spark? You might have a crank sensor or even a timing belt problem.

You can have an injector flooding a cylinder, but it shoudl at leats try to start. never have I seen all injectors dump at once. so do as I mentioned above.

Feel free to email me from my profile and let me know if you have spark and noid light, I can tell you where to go from there.

But seriously, noid light it before replacing injectors.|||Very simple. I pulled mine off about 3 years ago when I installed a new intake manifold and from what I recall, there are only 2 or 3 screws holding the fuel injector rail in place. Once you have taken those out and removed the fuel line from the rail, unclipped the electrical plugs from the injectors, and release the fuel pressure from the rail ( very important, otherwise you could be soaked in fuel ), the whole assembly ( including the injectors ) comes off. You would then remove the injectors individually from the rail.

How to change fuel injector 2000 Grand Cherokee Laredo?

Hi guys,

Well my car started shaking and it felt like it was going to stall but it didnt.. I brought it to a mechanic and he said that its my #1 fuel injector need to be replaced and hes charging me $320 for Parts and Labor..Im wondering if thers any Free link or anything that tells u %26quot;How To%26quot; or DIY meaning Do it yourself? or anything that shows where the injector location? I already bought the part that i needed just need to install it and im not planning to spend that much just to fix 1 small thing.. Ive asked around and they said its easy so pls can anyone help

thanks for all the help guys|||First your going to need to crawl under that jeep while its running and disconnect the fuel pump, need to do this to minimize the possibility

of a fuel fire.

next you are going to remove the 13mm bolts holding the fuel rail,

Do not remove the fuel rail! What your going to do is raise up the rail, just enough to pull the #1 injector from the rail (should only need to raise about 1 inch from injector housing/hole) then remove the old Injector.

Now liberally lube (petroleum jelly) the Injector seal and snap it back into the fuel rail, then push rail down to seat injector into the intake, bolt down the rail, then re-plug your fuel pump, turn your Ign.. key to the %26quot;run%26quot; position for 10 seconds (wait 30 seconds between cycles) at least twice, this will pressurize the rail. Check for any leaks(do not start yet). OK now its time to start, check for leaks again, if no leaks re-torque rail and go.

Hope this helps

How much to change fuel injectors?

Hello, could someone please give me a ball-park estimate on how much I can expect to pay to change out all fuel injectors on a 1995 GMC Jimmy V6? A hard quote isn%26#039;t necessary, but I have an opportunity to purchase this vehicle for $1000 and I know all that it needs is new injectors. Worth it?|||well, the labor won%26#039;t be too much...it shouldn%26#039;t take more than an hour, 2 hours to do this (at an average shop rate of $70/hr). the injectors themselves are expensive. go to autozone.com and the like, that will give you an idea how much the parts are.

ALSO: make sure it%26#039;s ONLY the injectors that are bad. fuel injection systems are great when they are working, but they are touchy. Why did the injectors go bad? is the fuel good, is it old, have water in it? is the fuel pump pumping? there%26#039;s at least 10 things in a fuel injection system that can go wrong and give headaches.|||I think you will be looking at an bill for at least $100 for each fuel injector and at least a 4 hour book time for the mechanic to change them. So if your garage is charging $75 an hour then your bill should come to close to $1000 including taxes.

I have a 1996 nissian maxima automatic v6 and it will not rev past 2500 rpms. Changed fuel filter and injector

any help would be appreciated.|||Rev limited at 2500 rpm? Ninja please. the most likely cause is the catalytic converter is restricted. Since air can%26#039;t get out of the engine, air can%26#039;t get in and it will only accelerate to the point where the exhaust back pressure overcomes the intake air charge. It could also be the fuel pump has insufficient pressure/volume. I have also seen ignition control modules cause an engine to not rev past a certain point.|||ever been tuned? if over 100K it sure needes it...check tranny fluid|||What kind of sound does the engine have when it hits 2500 rpms? Have you EVER heard it go above 2500 rpms? It may have a manufacturer%26#039;s built-in rpm limit device.

How to change fuel injectors on a miata-1994?

K so I want to change the fuel injectors on a 1994 miata. I plan on buying the manuel however Id like to know how difficult it is first and if i can do it on my own. So if you can just walk me through it so I can get an idea of what needs to be done that%26#039;d be great.

Thanks :)|||sometimes you need special equipment for this, so its best if you just take it to a shop|||I know a great place to buy OE injectors that are like new. Check out this web site. www.fuelinjector.citymaker.com

They sell injectors for about, $24-$35

What should i use at the time of oil change, fuel system cleaner or fuel injector cleaner? why?

Why either? Are you having problems. If not, just use a quality gasoline with cleaning additives in it.

How do you change a fuel injector on a 1988 mazda 929?

3.0 litre%26#039;

thanks anyone

even if u have tips I apprciate it

thank you

Jerry|||Bleed the pressure from the fuel rail first. Then just swap the injector. It should be a piece of cake.|||i would get a chilton manual...also, its recomended that you replace all 6 but dont have to. you might have to take off the intake plentum if the injector is on the rear bank..is it front wheel drive? take the fuse out of the socket for the fuel pump...crank over engine till pressure is releived..remove fuel rail. pull out old injector...lube up new and put in...install same as removal....a $15 manual would really help though...especially if you plan on fixing more on an 88.

Is it hard to change a fuel injector in a 97 grand am?

How to change fuel injector orings on 96 chevy cavalier?

2.2 liter|||Unbolt fuel injectors at manifold(should be 4 bolts, one per fuel injector) pull fuel injectors and rail up and out of manifold. With small screwdriver take off old o-rings. put a little Vaseline on new o-rings and place them back in groove on fuel injectors. Ease it slowly back into manifold as to not damage o-rings and bolt back down. Fairly easy.

How do I change a fuel injector in a 1998 dodge grand caravan?

Each fuel injector is connected to a long fuel rail. On the fuel rail, there should be a cap that you can unscrew. Unscrew the cap and press the little circle in the line with a pen, this will release the fuel pressure so that when you take off the injector, fuel does not spray everywhere. There will be a connection from the fuel rail to each of the injectors, you need to unplug the connection at the injectors. Now you can unbolt the fuel rail. There are two O-rings on each injector, one at top and one at the bottom. When you install the new injector, coat these O-rings with a light coat of oil so that they do not rip when you install them. Now bolt the fuel rail back up, and then reconnect the injectors. You do not have to disconnect the battery, but you can if it makes you feel safer.|||you need to let the pressure off the tank first then unhook the battery. the whole fuel rail has to come off if you have multi-port. unhook the plug-in for the harness running to the injectors, ynbolt the fuel rail and the rail should lift off. after everything is finished you will have to bleed the fuel lines.

Can i change fuel injector?

I have a 2000 Kia Sephia and its engine light is flashing and the car is shaking. So far i changed spurk plugs, wires and coils nothing change. My last hope is the fuel injector.I tested the injectors we found that the 3th injector is faulty and i decided to changed it. I took to car to the mecanic they said part is 150$ and labor 130$ so the total is 280$. Can i changed it by myself or How much is the avarage price for the labor for it ?

Thank you.

I called Auto zone part is 99$.|||have you checked the codes on the scanner?

With the kia sephia, I have noticed that 1 side of 1 coil (they have 2) can go bad. Sounds like that may be the problem. If it is a faulty injector, piece of cake on that car.|||You can do it yourself just be careful not to mess up the orings on it. Lube it up pretty good before putting it in. You damage the orings it is useless.|||You should not attempt this without a vehicle specific service manual. Available from auto stores for about 20 bucks. That will walk you through the steps much better than anyone on the internet can.

I would say it%26#039;s not difficult to do, but Kias and Hyundais tend to be junk to begin with so I could be wrong.|||Yes You can, just be careful.

disconnect the battery.

pay close attention on the job.

use Vaseline to insert the new injector.(some other products has the tendency to destroy the %26quot;O%26quot; rings)

insert the injector with Your hand ,don%26#039;t use the injector holder.

be careful with the wires handling, their insulation are toast.|||sure you can just remember that the seal(o-ring) is properly installed and they dont rip on the way in and the average price for an injector is about 100.00 bucks good luck

How much would it cost to have a mechanic change a fuel injector?

I have a 2001 F 350, the mechanic said that it would be $933 to change my #3 injector i was just wondering if that is a reasonalble price. Should fuel injector service cause car to hesitate when starting up?

I just had my oil changed and fuel injector fluid serviced. They said this needs to be done every few years (?). When I started up my car the first few times after getting this service it took a little longer than usual for the engine to start up. Is this normal? It did start up normally on my last try, though. Thanks.|||Whether you %26quot;need%26quot; to have the fuel injection serviced every few years is definitely up for debate.

However, I doubt the service is related to your present concern.|||Fuel injection cleaning should not cause it to start slower, normally. Sometimes with a fresh oil change (especially in cold weather), the oil will be a little thick until driven for a short time. The thicker oil will cause a little slower starting. Use a premium gas with cleaners in it, and add a name brand gas additive (like STP) once a month; and you should not have any problem with the injectors.

I have a 99 blazer with a misfire on cylinder 5 I changed the fuel injector and it is still showing a missfire?

My vehicle is running rough and uses a lot of gas. Even though I replaced the fuel injector it is still showing a miss fire on cylinder 5. Any other suggestions?|||test compression. ignition, vacuum leaks on intake.|||Why would you replace the injector first? The first thing to do is replace spark plugs, cap, rotor and ignition wires - all of which are probably OE and overdue for replacement anyway. If that doesn%26#039;t fix it then CHECK for injector pulse before replacing the injector.|||You stated its missed firing, it is nothing to do with your fuel injector. You need to replace spark plugs and spark plug wires (I used the letter %26quot;s%26quot; cause it is better to change out the entire spark plugs and wires at the same time.|||Yes, Have it diagnosed by a professional. By the time you are done throwing parts and money at it you will have spent more money guessing than it would have cost to have it professionally diagnosed and repaired.|||Are the plugs and plug wires old? Is the compression within 10 lbs of the other cylinders? As a more exotic guess, a cracked or shorted coil pack on #5?|||how do you know its misfiring on #5 cylinder|||maybe it,s not fuel. maybe you have a bad plug wire or plug.

How much would it cost to change a fuel injector that is stuck on a 94 mustang?

I%26#039;m thinking about buying a 94 mustang. How much would it be to replace 6 of them and new wires and a distributor cap? And they said it runs rough and you can smell fuel but no leaks, and that the injector is stuck on. They want $1200 for the car. Is it worth it? Any info will help. Thanks!|||fuel injectors are easy to swap out, anyone can do it with some tools. first you need to take off the air hose/pipe, unhook all plugs/wires leading to the intake/throttle body it self. loosen the bolts ontop of the intake, size 10 for the 4 in a sqaure, 15 for the two on the side. also there is a bolt near the battery on the intake that needs to be off. now you will have a pipe on the leftside of the throttle body connecting to the intake take it out. %26lt;-- dont bend it or pry it.

with all that out of the way, you need to unclip the injectors one at a time %26lt;%26lt; make sure you mark them or remember where they went. mine had a size 8 bolt holding the fuel rail down, but ive seen some where you need a allen wrench. take all 4 bolts out and on the injector is a clip take it off, and slowly pull the injector til you have it in your hand. %26lt; may be best to depressure the fuel. after you have them all out pop em back in put the clip back it..

now you want to aim the injectors right the first time otherwise you will have to retake them out to clean them..

new wires in sparkplug wires? easy its pull and put back on, one at a time though.

distributor you need it done professionally.

1200 may seem high to some but to me this is a bargain i paid 1500 for mine and motor was out of it.|||Injectors for the that car are usually around $45-65 a piece aftermarket so distributor cap is around $20-30 for the part. The labor that varies you could do it yourself the hardest part would be the injectors you need to be careful doing this relieve the fuel pressure and remove the intake manifold and fuel rails. the cap is two screws just have to put the wires on the new cap from the old cap in the same spot then install the new cap this way you don%26#039;t mess up the firing order. Good luck

How can I change a Fuel Injector on a 1995 Beretta Myself?

I%26#039;ve been told I can remove it quite easily %26amp; replace the O Rings on the injector instead of replacing the %26quot;entire%26quot; injector itself.

The fuel injector is plastic, the cap ontop of the injector is plastic.

Its located on the drivers side.(in the middle)

Its an Automatic transmission.

Its a 2.2 litre 4 cylinder engine.|||it is quite easy on that engine. remove the air intake tube, throttle cable bracket at throttle body, and 2 torx screws holding the fuel injector hold-down bracket. it will take a little wiggling to get that bracket slid off the injectors and out from under the fuel pressure regulator. after that bracket is off, the injector will slide right out of the rail with a little pry.

as far as replacing the o-rings and not the whole injector -- if it is leaking externally (which they always do on those engines), you are going to have to replace the whole injector. the injector body itself is what leaks, not the o-rings.

be sure to lube the o-rings when you are putting it back together.|||REMOVE IT ???

JUST KIDDING

REMOVE UPPER PLENUM AND THROTTLE BODY

UNDER THAT IF EQUIPPED IS A FUEL RAIL

BUY A MANUAL

SERIOUSLY IT IS EASIER THAN YOU THINK

How to change a diesel fuel injector?

Where can i find the procedure to change the fuel injectors on a 2003 Ford Excursion 6.0 engine?|||Not a diy project unless you have been properly trained to do this.

Take it to a mechanic. If the injectors are warantied and YOU install them improperly, then the waranty may be voided if something happens.

Can i change fuel injector/ cleaner brands after the first fill fill to diff brand?

hi last to fill ups in a older car i used Pennzoil fuel injector an this is my 3rd fill up today because gas is low so basically this fill up can i use red line fuel injector cleaner?|||yes.. it will not cause any problems .as most fuel additives are made so they can be mixed with out causing any problems.|||Yes you can.You won%26#039;t hurt anything by change different fuel cleaners, but it would be good to have the fuel filter change after useing a fuel cleaner for awhile, because the c leaner will send all your trash out of the fuel tank and cause your filter to clogged.

Anyone know how to change a fuel injector on a 1994 Accord EX?

Just wanting to know if I would be way in over my head if I tried to change a fuel injector. The mechanic that I took it to to look at said one would cost me around $100 dollars and like 3 hours of work. Being a college student on loans, no expense sounds reasonable! So I thought I would look into doing it on my own. Any ideas?|||there is alot more to it than just the injector. there is 2 wire harnesses under the glove box, one of them u have to undo to relive the pressure on the injectors, have to show u. and if you damage the o-ring on the injector pulling it out u have to replace it, usually good to go ahead and replace them anyways. it can be quiet a job if you don%26#039;t know what your doing..|||No way is that 3 hours labor. First thing buy Honda parts. If your only replacing one injector it still a good idea to get all 4 injector o-rings. Sometimes when you pull the fuel rail the injectors might be stuck in rail and its good to have all o-rings in case one of the four gets damaged.

First step get parts, then remove gas cap. What that other guy said about wires don%26#039;t listen to him I do this for a living. Then it%26#039;s easy as removing the fuel rail and the injectors will come out. They are sandwiched inbetween the fuel rail and intake manifold. As long as you take your time you should be alright.

Car won't start. Changed fuel injector, fuel line, distributor cap & module & wires, sparks changed too HELP?

I started having trouble starting my truck a few months ago and it would take about 5 or more turns of the key to get it started once it did start I didn%26#039;t have any problems about a month ago I had taken it to a shop and they told me it was my fuel injector so I got that replaced and fuel lines also. It still did the same thing, It ran a little smoother but still hard to turn over after sitting a while, anyway I was driving it yesterday and stopped at about 5 places and the last stop it didn%26#039;t want to turn over even after running a while I sat for about 10 minutes and it eventually turned over, I parked it in the garage and decided to change the distributor, rotor, %26amp; wire%26#039;s, the spark plugs were changed in the summer, After doing all that it still won%26#039;t start at ALL. I had a friend to check the gas valve on top and it shot out when he pressed the value when turning the key, he says he thinks my timing is out, What do you think and how can I check that to see if it really is the timing?|||Fuel pump.|||If you haven%26#039;t already, have your electrical and charging system checked thoroughly, including the belt that runs the alternator. Believe it or not, you may have spent an awful lot of money to replace parts that weren%26#039;t bad simply because no one bothered to make sure the truck had enough power to start.|||ya probly timing. cant check that if it dont run unless u play around with timing adjustment and see if it starts. then u know it is. or a bad starter too if u say it dont turn over.|||Did you check the fuel pump if so then check to see if your timing chain jumped one link. Good luck.|||Year and make would be nice.

Changing fuel injectors on a 1989 Mercedes 300E?

I am thinking about buying a 1989 Mercedes 300E. The owner says he thinks the fuel injectors need work and that the car has slow accelleration under a heavy throttle. How hard is it to fix this, and how expensive?|||I doubt the injectors themselves are the problem. They rarely go on these vehicles. This problem will require someone that is familiar with the M103 ( inline 6 engine ) to diagnose the problem first. Throwing parts at it, hoping to fix it, will be both costly and time consuming as the bogging under acceleration could be any number of things.

As recommended above. Ask to have the vehicle brought to a dealer or shop of your choice first to have the problem diagnosed ( as well as giving the car a general inspection ) as part of the purchase agreement.|||Unfortunately, older Euro makes are verrry spendy when things go wrong. Ask if you can take it to a shop for a diagnosis. If you are a AAA member, call your club for their Approved Auto Repair garage near the seller. If you can%26#039;t do that, the order of problems to address is 1. Spark plugs. 2. air filter 3. fuel filter, 4. plug wires, 5. injector cleaner. Check these items before purchasing, they may be ok. If these simple checks don%26#039;t give improvement, I%26#039;d pass, because it gets real expensive from there.

How do I tell which fuel injector needs to be changed?

I have a 95 dodge intrepid and I was told that I need to get a fuel injector changed, but they are 38.00 and do not want to buy all 6, how do I tell which one or ones are bad?|||your best bet is to have someone take the injectors out and physically inspect them first. if that is not enough to tell which one is bad, then you might have to take them to a specialty shop and have them clean them out and during the cleaning process, they%26#039;ll be able to tell which one is bad. see, fuel injectors can look perfectly clean when you look at them, but the internals can be full of gunk. and with all due respect to the other posting, DO NOT unplug the fuel injector while the car is running. not only would you have fuel spraying all over the place, but you have the possibility of simply lighting up in flames and shooting up to the sky. in order to remove an injector, you must first de-pressurize the fuel rail and remove both the rail and the wire harness. a simple task, but requires a high level mechanic skill, since you are talking about handling fuel. either way you look at it, your car might be down for a couple of days in order to pin-point the faulty injector. good luck with this and be safe!!!!|||well the best way for you is to start your car and listening real close to it running and unplug the injectors one by one 1 at a time and plug it back up if when you unplug it the car starts to miss then that injector is fine but if nothing changes when you unplug one then that could be your bad one , the only other way is take it to a shop and have the spray pattern checked to make sure it is spraying the right amount of fuel into the intake they make a kit that you can by for checking them and it is expensive and very delicate mine is snap on and costs over 200 dollars|||how many miles on that engine/ if its over 100k change them all/dont forget they are where the heat and compression action is|||better consult a good mechanic

My 97 tarurs has a cylinder 4 misfire. So is changing the fuel injector hard to do?

I%26#039;ve checked the coil pack, plugs , and wires so it must be the fuel injector|||It%26#039;s easy if you know what you are doing|||No, changing an injector isn%26#039;t difficult. Finding out that it didn%26#039;t fix the problem is.Have you done a compression test? If your fuel/air mixture is being blown out of an open valve on the compression stroke, you%26#039;ll trigger a misfire code. Same if the intake or head gasket is compromised.|||well i have a 1997 sho and i posted a question in here like a week ago and got a good answer my car had a miss fire on the 6 cylinder it was the ignition coil $118 the old one looked pretty good a few mechanics told me it wasnt that but i had wasted alot of money on it and i put it on myself and fixed. the thing is yours has the 6 coil pack i dont know if you can buy them sepratley and check it like that go to autozone and buy the pack and if its not it just return it say you never even put it on the car just make sure you clean it if it gets dirty. I have the1997 Taurus SHO It has a v8 and the ignition coils are sold individually. I think you can buy the rubber things individually for your car i think or just try that thing i told you with autozone. OH and if you do go to autozone tell them to give you the card if you buy over $20 dollars and when you return the part you still keep the card thats what i always do. Just dont loose your recipt.|||Nope, not hard at all. Just run it down to the mechanic and let a professional do. That%26#039;s why they go to school.|||it%26#039;s not too dificult to change, just get diagrams from the dealer and you will be in good shape. But it sounds like it might not be you injector-check your timing and spark and wire before you go any further if you have not already-goodluck=alex|||buy a haynes manual for your car they%26#039;re about 20 bucks but very worth the investment can tell you how to pretty much take you car completely apart you can find it at any auto store|||Could actually be a lot of things. But changing a fuel injector isnt that tough. Mostly just make sure the batter is disconnected and the pressure in the fuel rail has been relieved. To do so, bleed from the schrader valve on the rail. Then unbolt, diconnect the injector electrical connection and pull out, it may be tough since the oring has been sitting there for awhile.|||you are quite fortunate that it is cylinder #4.

Since that is the right hand side of the car and closest to the front. You will need a torx bit to take out the 2 fuel rail retaining bolts. It is still best that you try a compression test first though and a block leakage test.(check for combustion gasses in the radiator)

14 years in Ford dealers and Injector problems on that car are pretty rare. Head gasket problems on that car are, however, quite common.

good luck!
