FUEL INJECTOR AND CARBORATOR Cleaner, is this good for your car?

First of all what does this do???

I put the whole bottle right after i got an oil change on my Mustang 2003. I wonder if that was a good thing, because now the acceleration feels a bit loose. Whats your take on these cleaners they sell at a gas station? can they ruin the engine? is it necessary to use them? thanks!FUEL INJECTOR AND CARBORATOR Cleaner, is this good for your car?It wont do anything to your can it's to new. On older cars with higher mileage it really helps out. But for you it's a wast of money.

They dont do anything, good or bad. It is a waste of money.

It's good when your car isn't accelerating right. When it's really dragging. It cleans it out. I did it to mine, it will feel loose at first but it gets better.
Most of the time the over the counter fuel injector cleaners work for just a very short time. My mechanic explained it to me by comparing it to someone who has gone on/off of a diet. Most people will loose the weight but then gain it back and more--same thing with the buildup inside the injectors--when you first use it it works for a short period but then the buildup comes back and gets worse. He recommended the professional injector cleaning. I had him do it to my 86 Chevy Iroc Z-28 and what a difference it made compared to the over the counter injector cleaners. He uses the Champion brand and recommends you do it once a year to maintain peak performance and mileage. I agree with him and have been getting it done to my cars every year and it has helped all my cars to run/sound great even with over 150k on them. People can't belive any of my cars have that high mileage and still take off fast. I also have yet to replace a fuel injector on any car.
it all depends on the brand. you only get what u pay for. cheap means useless, the dearer a product is useally means better quality.
Fuel injector cleaner is good in moderation, Injector cleaner increases the octane of the fuel to allow a little more power and to clean and deposits that gas may have left. Most of the injector cleaner you just use once a year. There is some that you can use around 3,000 to 5,000 miles just for maintenance. Generally you use it when you might have gotten some water in the fuel or possible some bad gas, this would help stabilize the fuel and allow it to burn a little better. Good Idea every once and a while, if you use it too much then you could possible burn up the cat or the O2 sensors.
