I ut 5 gallons of regular gas in my diesel truck accidently. what should I do ?

I am especially worried about the fuel injectors damage and any other damage. I have punped out the mixed fuel to the bottom of the tank and now have 10 gallons of diesel fuel in thank. I am afraid to try to start the engine however until I know more, and I have changed all the fuel injectors. Nial Castle in San Diego.I ut 5 gallons of regular gas in my diesel truck accidently. what should I do ?just drain it and replace the filters on it, i get a few like this once in a while it wil run like crap if you try and drive it,just drain it and it will be fine, good luck.

Say a prayer

Drain it. Otherwise its gonna damage the motor.
Appears to be the correct solution (no pun intended).

Confirm with a Diesel mechanic this Additional action:

Run the vehicle from FULL to about 3/4 FULL, then load up with pure Diesel to make it FULL again.

Keep doing this for about ten or more times.

Reasoning (to be confirmed by a Diesel mechanic):

Any remaining gasoline will be mixed with the Diesel, time and time again. Too much gasoline will not be placed into the fuel lines. You will have only diluted gasoline, diluted gasoline, diluted gasoline, and more diluted gasoline.

Good luck!
Theirs a high chance that it could be ruined.

Do not %26quot;run%26quot; your truck. Call a mechanic as soon as possible.
I have done this my self.

I drained the fuel, replaced the fuel filter and refilled with diesel fuel.

I have no idia how much your tanks hold but if you have drained it as empty as possible and refilled it with diesel it shouldnt be too dangerous. its running straight gasoline through a diesel thats a disaster. if possible fill the tanks with diesel and stick an air hose in the tank and airate the fuel. this will blend the fuels more fully deluting the fuel even more and for an added touch add a quart of atf in the tank to further brake it down.
it would help to know what kind of truck and tank size, but, having gas in a diesel, will not damage the engine,it will however make it run alittle warmer temperature, how much gas?in how big of tank?a gallon or two of gas in a 30 gallon fuel tank will have no real effect on the engine, old school truck drivers even used to put 10 gl gas to 100 gl diesel in extreme cold temps to prevent gelling,if you think you have it to about a gallon or two ,to a 30 gl tank ,fill it with diesel, when you drive half of the tank out, fill it back up with diesel, you really should have no problems,
If you started the engine with gasoline replace the fuel filter/s. Depending on the unit I would draw fuel from whatever is feeding the fuel filter until I got diesel from the line. Why did you change the injectors? If you drained the tank as best possible, replaced the fuel filter/s and were able to get diesel from the filter feed I would go ahead, start the truck. You should be okay. Don't rev it like a mad man just in case you have a little gasoline in the injection pump.
Lol! Don't worry it's not major. It's the other way round that rights of a petrol engine. Fill the tank with diesel. Loosen the injectors. Have someone turn the ignition. Keeping naked flames away smell the liquid coming out of the injectors. When it smells diesel stop turning the ignition, replace the injectors. Now turn the ignition until it fires. You biggest problem is the battery running flat. I solved this problem by having a friend tow me in circles with the ignition on. You won't have done any damage to the engine. I've done this myself and solved the problem this way with the assistance of a mechanic.
A 20% mixture of gasoline blended with 80% diesel fuel will run without serious complications in a diesel engine as long as you are not operating the engine at or near it's design limit - AKA stay away from using full throttle! the best thing to do is to fill the tank with diesel as soon as the level drops 1/4 tank two or three times then you can resume normal operation.

It will also reduce the possibility of complications if you add a bottle of diesel fuel cleaner / additive / upper end lubricant to eliminate any possible loss of lubrication in the fuel system.
