My 2001 Chevy Malibu is missing bad after intake gasket change, little help?

I changed the gasket myself and it was missing bad when I started it. CEL came on so I hooked OBD II checker and it said P0204 misfire 4 cylander and P0304 open circuit 4 cylander fuel injector.



Changed plugs and wires already.



It's like the fuel injector is stuck open because it's fouling the plug and gas is coming out of the exhaust. Any goodway to ops check the injector? Other suggestions? I'd be checking the wiring to the injectors...I'd bet you've either damaged the connector at the injector, or damaged the wiring.

you need to check the electrical connection at the injector, if that is good replace the injector, gm injectors go bad constantly as they get older

I think you can rent or borrow a set of test lights to check to see if the fuel injectors are getting current. Before that, you can use a light dowel rod held to your ear to listen to each injector while the engine is running. They should all rattle pretty much the same way. If the injector is silent, then it's either stuck mechanically or it's not getting any signal. Go over the wiring and make sure you've put everything back together right.



It sure sounds like the injector is stuck open if that's really gas coming out of the exhaust pipe, but most of the time the liquid that comes out of the tailpipe is just water.



You should be able to run the engine with the injector just sitting out. Anyway, clean 'em.
With an OHM meter,( power off ), see if the injector has 2 ohms resistence. If not close replace it.Check the wiring to that injector for bear spots,broken wire ,and fix if need be.It could be possible that the computor driver for the injector has failed do to a short circuit,leaving the injector full rich.
I hate to tell you but I think you may have switched a intake and exhaust push rod. They are different sizes and it is a common mistake when doing this job. If you are not 100% positive you got it right, do a compression check before you chase other things. the chances of an injector going bad while you were changing a gasket are pretty slim.
